MMFF 2024: Strange Frequencies - A Must-See

"Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital," a chilling blend of "GoCam-horror" and "meta found footage," debuts at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival on December 25th. This 90-minute thriller, shot entirely within Taiwan's notoriously haunted Xinglin Hospital, promises a terrifying cinematic experience.

Five celebrities and two online personalities, including Enrique Gil, Jane De Leon, and internet sensation Zarckaroo, embark on a live-streamed exploration of the abandoned hospital, seeking to uncover its paranormal secrets. However, their quest for views quickly turns into a horrifying fight for survival as they encounter terrifying entities within the dilapidated building.

Directed by the "Master of Horror" Erik Matti and produced by Reality MM Studios, "Strange Frequencies" leverages the "experience-horror" genre, a first for the MMFF, to deliver intense jump scares and nerve-wracking suspense. The film draws inspiration from the Korean hit "Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum" and aims to capitalize on the enduring popularity of found footage horror, a style pioneered by classics like "The Blair Witch Project" and "Paranormal Activity."

"Strange Frequencies" has already garnered international attention, with Variety recognizing it as a standout entry with significant global appeal. This chilling film is set to redefine Filipino horror cinema, pushing the boundaries of the genre and delivering a truly unforgettable cinematic experience.
